ANY QUESTION PLS CALL ...
The
sccoter resided in Stevenage in Herts
and I collected the same day and in
the same van as the PX200,
My first reaction
on seeing it was one of disappointment
at its condition but that was very unfair.
The test run revealed
the speedo not to be working which was
a concern - how acurate was the mileage?
But that's a lottery anyway.
After I got it home
that night and gave it about 90 minutes
TLC I could see it really was a nice
scooter and that my first reaction was
out of order.
The scooter is actually
an Li150 as marked on the frame but
was advertised, badged and registered
in the log book as an Li125 (learner
legal). It's insured as an Li186.
I got my son to pace
me in his car so I could check out the
performance and gague speed. He tracked
me up to 60mph at which point I overtook
him. Seemed about right for the 186
Mugello engine which the seller did
say was sweet.
Speedo now fixed
I've taken it on a few runs, mostly
Maidenhead and back (55 miles) and it
goes 'off the clock' which in this case
is 70 mph plus. I wouldn't stake too
much on the accuracy of that however
although one of the guys at the club
says his 186 Mugello does just that
and when I've followed him around he
does not hang about. Anyway, it's a
nice scoot.
On the left hand
side are some pictures that Graham Harris,
the previous owner, sent me. He was
a member of the North
Herts Scooter Collective and you
can see some of these picts on their
web site.
Graham said he often
used to take his son out on the runs
and rallies.
October
2008 - Facelift
The four-in-one rear
backrest and carrier had been welded
and broke in late September and rather
than replace it I decided to do a face
list on the scooter as there were a
few things I wanted to change.
The following work
was carried out by Scooter Indulgence
of Swindon on account of my being a
mechanical nonce.
- New
engine mounts. The lads at Scooter
Indulgence noticed these needed doing
when I got them to sort out some wiring
problems and check it over after I
bought the scooter.
- New
seat. The exisitng seat did not 'lock
down' and was in a poor state of repair.
Plus I wanted a black one.
- New
grey rubber trim kit. I couldn't get
on with the blue one.
- Repaired
rear floor boards. One side had been
welded and the other side had a dent.
The boys at Scooter Indulgence did
a great job with the repair and then
matched up the paint perfectly with
some kind of spectrometer device that
got the colour just right.
- While
they had the paint out I had the rear
hub painted as it was bad as well
as the flywheel cowl.
- Fitting
of a sprint rack.
- Fitting
of a leg shield spare wheel carrier.
Picked the scooter
up on 8 November and took it for a ride
once home. Looks great and with the
new engine mounts fitted its now a really
smooth ride.
Nice job Simon &
Dave"
